Los Angeles Traffic Court – We Can Help

Also referred to as the Metropolitan Court, Metro Court, and the Los Angeles Traffic Court, the Metropolitan Courthouse Los Angeles is a large eight-story building that deals with a variety of traffic ticket and traffic violation issues, including hit and runs (VC 20002), suspended licenses (VC 14601.1), and DUIs. On the busiest days of the week, literally of thousands of people visit this courthouse.

Check the Location Associated with Your Traffic Ticket

Most people are issued traffic tickets while driving in the metropolitan area of Los Angeles, as opposed to San Fernando Valley or West LA. Because of that, they are required to handle their ticket issue or violation in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Courthouse.

The exact name and address for the court where you need to go is clearly written on the bottom portion of the ticket. However, if you are unsure of the location, you can always check the court location and status of the ticket online.

Waiting in Long Lines

Unfortunately, the traffic ticket customer phone service is no longer available due to budget cuts. As a result, you must physically go to the Metropolitan Courthouse and be prepared to wait in long lines, often for hours.

Where to Go Once Inside the Metropolitan Courthouse

First Line – Metal Detector Line

First, you have to wait in line to go through a metal detector.

Traffic Ticket Clerk

Once through the metal detector line, you will need to wait in yet another long line to reach a window where you can speak to a traffic ticket clerk. More than likely, you will be given a court date six months out at a minimum. On that date, you will return to the courthouse to go before a judge.

If you simply have no time available from work or you have a problem standing in long lines, contact us at 310-285-1516, and we will handle your traffic ticket at the Metropolitan Courthouse on your behalf. We will fight the charges and try to get your fine reduced.

Court Window for GC Services

If your traffic ticket has been turned over to GC Services for collection, you will need to go to the GC Services window at the Metropolitan Courthouse. As with the traffic clerk, you will have to wait in line to be served. For any ticket being handled by GC Services, do not get in the line for the traffic ticket clerk, which will not handle collections from this agency.

Once at the GC Services window, if you have a Failure to Appear (FTA), you can request a court date to see a judge. The only exception is if you have already been before a judge for that particular ticket. If you have a Failure to Appear (FTA) or a Matter Set for Compliance, a second court date to see a judge will not be granted. In that situation, it is in your best interest to go ahead and pay the fine to get your driver’s license reinstated.
